thrills and sensations .the game
has probably ne,Ter , been excelled
on a local diamond. i; " '
Neither did the fact that not
one of the Camas ' runs' was
earned, and "only seven of ' Sa
lem's IS werel earnedt detract
from interest of the fans in the
game. The most regrettable fea
ture of the game was the wild
ness of " Steve iMyere, the Camas
pitcher. He had a tremendous
lot of stuff on the ball, but he hit
four Salem batters and (walked
three, once forcing in a run. He
was supplanted in the seventh a
hectic inning rby F. Jacoberger,
which resulted in little benefit for
the visitors, j Broughton, who
pitched for Salem, was effective,
though he allowed 10 safes in the
seven innings (that he pitched.
Beamis, ,who relieved Jhira," gave
one hit in the two final innings.
'Salem landed on the "Camas
pitchers for a j total of 16 bits.
Coleman contributed a homerun
that was goo&lfor two tallies.
Reinhart and j Schackmann got
three safes each. I.-'
The invincible trio, Miller,
Proctor and Baird, worked with
lightning wit again Sunday, pull
ing double plays in the second
and fifth Innings. Baird played
in fine form throughout the game
and contributed two individual
plays that won f him the plaudits
of the exceptionally large crowd
of fans.- In the seventh inning
Camas had second and third oc
cupied when Schulmerich sent a
hard liner across firet base terri
tory. It looked like a hit good for
two runs, but iBIUy Baird leaped
into the air and brought it down
with one hand. ; Baird seemed to
have a pick at Schulmerich. In
the ninth with two down and
Schulmerich on first after a neat
single Baird hid the ball in his
glove and stabbed Schulmerich
for the final out when he took his
foot off the base.
Another pretty - play in the
ninth was Keene's running one
hand catch oft the left field fence
of a long drive trom Jensen's bat.
Edwards, Miller and Coleman
did brilliant work in the second
when Edwards: feinted a peg to
second as Schulmerich was steal
ing off, thereby trapping H. Jacob
erger between) third and home
when he dashed for the plate.
Another wonderful catch was by
Schulmerich, of Camas in the ter
rible seventh. Salem had sent 15
men to bat and run in 10 tallies
when Baird hit the ball a terrific

clout and: it shot toward the cen
ter field fence. Schulmerich ran
and Jumped for it, plucking it al
most off the boards, taking a se
vere tumble in the effort.
Two of Salem's four errors were
excusable; ; The usial team work
didn't work just right in the third
and Schackmann was allowed to
run into Infield territory for a fly.
He dropped it, but recovered the
ball and threw out Myers at the
plate. An error was marked
against Coleman because of a wild
throw in the seventh, but it was
after a sensational stop with his
bare hand of a sizzling grounder
from Garbarino's bat.
Salem took a 4 to 1 lead in the
first inning and held a lead until
at the end of the sixth the Sena
tors were ahead 8 to 4. Then in
its half of the seventh Camas ran
In three,; bring the score to 8-7
in Salem's favor. This put the
fans at a high pitch of excitement,
with Camas supporters going wild
in the grandstand.
