Meals, hokwas head of the fdrmer NMA in an eloquent tribute to the men who made the; consolidation possi ble, exclaimed "We are now one!" he signalized a new and better day in motoring affairs, in ther opin ion of -motor leaders throughout -the land.. . ; V j Particularly cheering to motor ists -was the . prediction of Presi dent Thos. Henry that another year, because of the consolidation, 'will see -the complete! removal of all discriminatory taxes on motor ists. It is the opinion of Mr. Hen ry that the new AAA, taking in as it now does more than 90-per cent cf the real clubs of .the. country, wil , henceforth wield its greatest influence for the betterment of all motoring conditions, although, he emphasizes, "the AAA will make no) rontair t or unreasonable jde xnasds merely contend for Jus tice always to those . ot repre sents i . Chief among the near-future ac tivities of the new AAA will be re lentless warfare against the so called "gyp" 'motor organisations. About i 2 miles from Philomath proceed more carefully, as there is a j rock crusher, and a bridge under construction,: both requiring short! detours of a few feet on a rather narrow road. After these detours the road is excellent and fainy straight into Eddyville, which 75.1 miles from Salem. ; This portion of the road follows i in succession the Marys.l Little Elk, and Yaquina rivers.
