The Lotz-Larsen Mine Is How Entering Production-1 This
Comes After Nine Years of Hard Work Many Millions

Wherever the subject of mining
comes up iq western Oregon the
names Lotz-Larsen. are surely
mentioned as 'being one of the
best known mine derelopiong or
ganizations in the Cascades.
. These are the men who hare
brought the Santlam country near
er to immediate success than ever
before, and It is a result of their
efforts that atteotoin has been at
tracted to the country from the
largest mining concerns in the
country. 't j ' . . , :
The Lotz-Larsen Mining ' com
pany is operating on its own group
of claims and will be shipping ore
this. Week for the first time on a
commercial basis.
' During the past nine years dis
covery and development work has
brought their property up to an
admirable . point, of perfection on
the basis upon which they worked,
and many millions of tons of ore
are now uncovered and ready for
extraction.
The greater amount of work
since 1922 has been done on the
Minnie E, ledge, where there is be
tween 11 and 1200 feet of straight
away, tunnel work done and many
hundred feet of cross cut and pros
pect work completed. s
In the Minnie E. which now has
a depth of nearly 800 feet on the
vein, there are thousands upon
thousands of the richest copper,
gold, and silver ore ever uncov
ered in the Santlam, awaiting
hauling from the mine.

of ore that will make the mine not
only self supporting but will carry
on the necessary, amount of sur
face building that will in a few
months put them in line with the
really big producers of the coun
ty v
When that point is reached the
Lotz-Larsen property will settle
back! to steady production and be
come a dividend payer of great
strength. There are many stock
holders who have invested their
money with but one idea, and that
was to make money In return. . ,
Great Wealth
The groups of claims, consisting
of 32 claims, includes-within their
limits seven giant ledges or ore.
Besides the mineral value i of
these ledges the company owns 13
miles of water rights'on the Lit
tle North Fork of the Santiam
river, which take3 in 11 power
sites of commercial value beyond
estimation, and 640 acres of tim
ber lays in the group and has a
valuation that runs into the mil
lion mark, i A .
With mountains of ore millions
of feet, of timber and world's of
the best and cheapest power
available in the country, success
has never depended upon anything
but production. To reach this
point it has taken many thousands
of dollars, many long, years of
work and endless courage " and
faith in th distrlrt Th
been no mistake made In olineirte
to the task and fighting th prob
lem to an end. " -
f lilg Conservative Men ;
Associated now with Lotz-Lar
sen. are some of Oregon's best
known men and women. The dir
ectors' board has such men as
James H. Lathrop. who Is tax and
right of way acent for the South
ern raciric railroad.v the
as conservative bankers, investors
and' farmers, Thomas Ratcliff,
manager of the Portland auditor
ium and others of like prestige.
With people of that-sort behind
the directorship, and mining men
at the property of tlie'calSber of
Mr. Lotz and Mr. Larsen, there is
every reason why the expected suc
cess should be realized within the
scheduled time. . '
These people placed on the mar
ket some time ago enough of their
securities to execute a schedule
of surface and underground devel
opment which is well on to com
pletion, and the securities have
been taken up by people over the
state a3 well as out of state.
The property has been inspected
by mining men from all parts of
the country, and all have agreed
that it Is one of the biggest propo
sitions on the Pacific coast at the
present time.-' The statement the
Santiam will make great strides
In the future and become one of
the wonld's big producing districts
is no idle dream, for the possibil
ities are there in goodly numbers
as surely as they have ever been
anywhere.

To say
a gambler
the ordinary farm risk.
that the farmer is not
certainly would be in error, for
statistics prove that he, above all
other men, battles with about all
the risks there are for one to take.
This is not stated as a matter of
criticism,, for the occupation of
farming is a most essential one
and must be encouraged for th
mutual .welfare 0f aj civilization.
But the farmer ' buylntr h's
