Dallas has a payroll second to no
town of its size in the state of Oregon
and is therefore prosperous, even
though the fruit situation is not sat
isfactory. Our main industrial insti
- tntions, happily all located on one
j side of the town, are the Willamette
: Valley Lumber comoanv sawmill, the
Dallas Machine and Locomotive
; Works, the Southern Pacific Railway
; shops, cannery, three prune packing
implants, planing mill, flour mill,
! creamery, and numerous smaller in-
stitutions, all together paying out
almost a million and quarter dollars
I annually in salaries.
WE'RE ALWAYS PROSPEROUS

INTRODUCING
THE PRUNE CITY OF
OREGON
RIENDS, This is a simple invitation to look us over, size us up and determine whether you want to be
IP one of our community, or county. We are so well pleased with what we have that we want to pass along
i a good thing.
Dallas, Oregon! is the county seat of Polk county, long known as the banner county of the state. This

competing. Dallas is a real city of 3,500 people, already has many paved streets and is this year endeavoring
to put through a program to pave forty additional blocks. $ ; .
It has unsurpassed-pure mountain water, is so situated that it is protected from-all higfe windsand is
therefore ideally located for the growing of fruits. Immediately around Dallas and at several other
localities in Polk county, there is a big acreage of prunes, which have proven the most profitable fruit to
grow in this locality. Producing prune orchards can actually be purchased for from $400 an acre up, the
mere value of such productive land. v :,:--:S:r.

You have not seen the Willamette Valley unless you have viewed Dallas from one of the several hilltops
in the vicinity. No prettier sight, winter or summer, can be found in all Oregon. Biiilded deep in the valley,
with the LaCreole river winding through it, with thousands of acres of finely cultivated orchards to be seen
on all sides, with the beautiful little city nestling at the base of the valley , a sight is presented that once seen
is never forgotten
A prime purpose of the Dallas Commercial Club is to protect homeseekers against imposition. We ask
that before purchases are made that the facts be reported to us, and if there is a reason to believe that the
purchaser is being imposed upon, it shall be our duty to give him the exact facts. We desire to build our
county upon the sure foundation rock of prosperity for every newcomer.

To The Non-Oregonian
Do you know that spring is at hand in Oregon? Do you know
that the grass is green the year round! Do you know that fishing
and hunting is good practically every day in the year? Do you know
that -every man is more efficient in a climate that is neither too cold
nor too warm ? Do you know that we of Oregon read of, your severe
storms and sympathize with you in your misery? Do you know that
we have two months practically free from rain, during which time
we ean go into the woods without cover and sleep in comfort, with
out molestation from mosquitoes? Do you' know, that throughout
the "Willamette Valley there is no need of irrigation, that nature
stores enough water in the soil previous to July to grow splendid
crops? Do you know that we have room for a milliorf more people
in Oregon? And do you know that
WE WANT YOU TO COME? f
