RIDING along a country road
you will notice that nearly all
of the barns built d""lng a cer
tain period are more or less alike.
This Is due to the habit of Imita
tion, or, perhaps, because a local
carpenter and builder knew how to
build that kind of a barn. There
is, however, a vast Improvement in
farm architecture. You seldom see
a sew bam built now with any
thing but a gambrel roof, and a
glance at the illustration will give
yon sufficient reasons. Notice the
difference la storage capacity.
Seldom, If ever, a dairy barn Is
now built without a concrete floor
reinforced to keep it from crack
ing; generally the first story is
also made of reinforced concrete:
the stanchions and carrier mannre
uuny, traveling ireigni agent ior
the Northern Pacific, and Charles
E. Burnett, freight and passenger;
agent for the Rock Island railroad.
Both men have their headquar
