ed 250,000 shares of the Mammoth
Oil company, former in 1922 by
Harry F. Sinclair, to develop Tea
pot Dome, have been called on to
pay more than $3,000,000 of an
unpaid balance of $ 5.000. of0 on
the $7."ii'0.0io purchase price, u
was learned today.
Payment of the assessment, am
ounting to $12.50 a share, it was
said had been refused by a num
ber of syndicate members in view
of the prospective cancellation of
the naval reserve lease upon 'v!irh
the company's assets largely are
based.
When the syndicate bought the
stock for $30 a share, in Novem
ber, 1922. it paid $10 a share
down. The balance was to be
paid as development of the pro
perty progressed.
