The following are samples from AA the Issue for last Monday: Uniform Tree Planting Over at Corvallis is a street with uniform tree planting. As -A-Ma result, the street is one of un usual beauty. Another result is j that residence property on that cisss street is held at a higher price AA than on streets with all sorts of AA I trees. Why not in Salem? If South Liberty street or North Summer street established a plan of uniform tre6 planting or any AA other street would it not en hance the beauty of the street? AA Arthur L. Peck, professor of landscape gardening of the Ore gon Agricultural college, will aa speak to us today on, 'Uniform Street Tree Planting." Mr. Peck was formerly engaged in land- scape work for the Metropolitan AA Park Commissldn of Boston. " His special work is in town planning an extension work for the O. A. C. The Marion-Polk county Real ty association endorses the plan for uniform tree planting. Chair man George II. Grabenhorst, president Marion-Polk County Realty association. Pendleton Is Right Reports from the Pendleton A J auto park are: "Nominal fees aa charged tourists and profits made this year was used In paying for Improvements made for serving tourists." Prune "Week If 500 men in salem would send an eight or ten pound box of aa prunes to folks back east, it might please them more than sending them fancy work or even a dox of socks or handkerchiefs. Your aa I friends oan get the fancy things at home, but the chances are they know nothing of our wonderful aa Italian prunes. You can "figure aa J on about 50 cents express per 10 pound box to points in the central states, east of Chicago, it is 56 cents a box. Just Figure If each of the 110,000,000 peo ple in the United States ate only one Italian prune a year, that would consume about 2,500,000 pounds. If they ate just one prune a month during the year, that would require 30,000,000 pounds and our crop this year is estimated at AA 45,000,000 pounds.
