T8. The management of the student co operative store is called in ques tion by the 1300 student , stock holders and as a result Ben Max well of Salem, one of the directors, has resigned. The cooperative store is an as sociation, in which the students are supposed to hold memberships. This year 1300 students have tak en out. memberships. This gives them the privilege of sharing in the profits of the store at the end of the year. A dividend is paid1 to each student in propor tion to the amount af purchases that this student makes in the course of the year. ; Criticism of the store was pro voked 'upon an incident regarding the authorization of some new student rooter caps which were on sale at the store. The caps, of a green and yellow color, were modeled differently from the old style headgear, and though made of the same material, were sold for more. It developed that the Oregon Knights a student organ ization, was selling the caps un der the impression that they had been authorized by the executive council. This was investigated, and it was found that no authori zation had taken place and that coonerative store manager, had evidently misrepresented the facta to the students. From this incident .has been raised a protest in JLhe form of a communication appearing in this morning's Emerald, the student daily paper, crying out against the cooperative store service in gene ral and raising doubt of the fact that the store actually is student owned. - i Coincident with this has come the resignation of Ben Maxwell of Salem, one of the student direc tors of the cooperative store. Max well tendered his resignation be cause of the impending attacks of the store management which he said jhe would not be able to de fend. Maxwell felt that even as a director he did not know or un derstand enough about the man agement of the store to be able to explain iU shortcomings to critics. I Basketball League to .
