reported to the state board' of
health from Marlon county the
past 'week. Upon the "opening of
schools the danger of disease Is
enlarged. Writing further the
board says. "The means of trans
mission and also the method of
control of the diseases ' are well

today. Failure to control : them
is due to the lack of cooperation
on the part of parents and teach
ers. Best results are obtained by
school supervision under the di
rection of alschool physician or
public health nurse. In the ab
sence of these it is the -duty of
the teachers to make dally i in
spections of, the schools, and keep
a close watch upon the pupils for
communicable diseases.. Upon
the first appearance of symptoms
children should be promptly ex
cluded from school."

Governor Issues Pardon
James Smid of St. Paul, sen
tenced to serve three months in
the county jail, was pardoned
yesterday by Governor Pierce,
Smid had served Just 30 days of
the sentence, having been received
at the jail August 20.

an average of three buahels an
acre. One seed grower raised as
high as seven and a half bushels
of seed to 'the acre. . . .
