C. Russell, . whose yard ia about
nine miles north of Salem on the
River road, was in the city seek
ing pickers yesterday. He stated
he, was paying 85 cents a box,'
and would furnish transportation
to hi yard.
While some of the smaller
yards and yards visited by blight
have offered as high as 75 cent3
a box, the offer made by Mr.
Russell is the highest made this
season.; 1 Several of the larger
yards recently Increased their
rate of pay from 60 cents to 70
cents a box, but the Russell orfcr
is about 15 cents higher than any
other grower. .
