Many Pay Tribute at
Funeral of D. P. Junk
. The funeral service of the late
D. P. Junk Monday was largely
attended and beautiful floral
tributes, were numerous. ; 7" ;
. The service was conducted by
Rer. W. W. Long of the First
Presbyterian church of which all
'the family are members. He was
assisted by Rev. G. ' Tate of
Portland, a former pastor of the
family in Nebraska and a person
al friend of the deceased for 40

. Mr. Tate paid a high tribute of
(respect for Mr. Junk as a citizen,
; loyal to his country, his family

Bertha Junk Darby, a daughter
was called home Friday from
Newport, where she was spending
her vacation. Herbert J. Darby,
a grandson, arrived home Sun
day, having spent the summer in

attle, Rev. and Mrs. J. G., Tate of
Portland, G. W. Reynolds of Port
land, a cousin of Mrs. Junk, and
Mrs. Lettie Hedges Wokot of Los
Angeles, the wife of Mr. Junk's
business partner in Shelton. Neb.

lefts. Luis Angel Firpo punched
four sparring partners j dizzy in
eight rounds of a fairly heavy
workout at his training camp this
afternoon. Under the cabled di
rections of Felix Bunge, the
Buenos Aires trainer, as inter
preted by Horatio Lavelle, the
local boss, Firpo is devoting all
of his work, to development of the
port-side piledriver.
Firpo intends: to continue work
without letup until September 12.
He now weighs, around j the 210

He rises promptly at 6:30 each
morning and goes to bed not later
than 9:30 p. m. Albertino, the
chef, prepares his meals as pre

Fishing Trip Postponed

Sortie Ambitious Speedsters

Oak Track Labor Day
A number of new, fast cars have
been lined np for the automobile
races on Labor; day. Frank Wa
gar, of . the race committee for the
bigr hospital benefit, visited Port
land and located a whole string
of speedsters what will be here.
There are , two fast Dodge cars
and two fast Fronty-Fords "com
ing from Seattle and Tacoma that
had not been figured In the early
list of entrants. One of the Fron
tenacs and one of the Dodges are
said to be about the classiest
lookers on the northwest tracks.
The list of cars will , tnclude
these new specials, as well as a
number of other cars that have
been seen here in Salem, and
others from eastern Washington
and Oregon that have not yet
been described. The track should
be In the best of condition, so
that the races can be held in I
safety and f yet show the maxi-j
mum ui nyceu. iuej yruiuiso iu
run the whole series and the
specialty intermissions on sched
ule time, so that one doesn't havo
to waste the whole lalternoon
