Demurrer Piled .
The Pacific Spruce corporation
has filed with the public service
commission a demurrer to the
complaint of Lincoln county tim-
bermen against the corporation,
alleging there is not cause for ac

ing telegram' to Admiral Coontz:
From advice at hand it appears
that naval appropriation commit
tee has not included Astoria and
Portland, in. Its itinerary. .' The
omission of visit to these Oregon
cities would prevent a thorough
study of the subject of national
defense. As you will accompany
committee I urge you that your
schedule be so altered as to give
proper time to survey of condi
tions -at Astoria and Portland. The
location of Astoria, the easy en
trance to its harbor and short dis-
stroyers.may operate. Portland 1b

Entering the harbor of Tonga,

held in abeyance until a decision
was reached.

Pollock made a report, indicating
that the problem was a new one I
even to an officer of hia long ex
perience.
