BOISE. Idaho,. March 30. Pur
ing the gold rush days of the '60s
the town of Idaho City,' northeast
of here, had a floating, population
of 16,000, but now only about 200
persons arejef t and, with the, city
fast gelag into decay, ' local - resi
dents ' are considering plans for
its preservation as' one of the show
places of the state. r-
It was in 1862 that gold' was
first" discovered in the Boise' basin
and in two yearsvthe town of IdsVl
ho City had been established. It
flourished for some time and then
when gold production fell off It

basin is estimated to have yielded

and the miners of those days came
