Final Dealings React Owing
to Nature of Information
from Abroad
CHICAGO. Dc. 1. Although
wneat prices showed consider
able strength at times today,
the market in the Mnal dealings
reacted owing largely to asser
tions that some, foreign buyers
had been selling back at less re
placement value. The close was
unsettled at 3-4 net decline to
3-b advance, with May 1.16 5-8
to 1.16 3-4 and July 1.07 7-8
to 1.08. Corn finished unchang
ed to half lower, oats 1-4 a 3-S
otf to 1-4 gain and provisions
unchanged to a rise otf 12 cents.
The reselling of wheat on the
part of foreign buyers was said
to come from France and Italy
and to have been at 5 to 8 cents
under present cost figures. In
creased sell'ng pressure from
holders here was noticeable as
the day drew to an end and the
market closed at but little above
the lowest figTires of the season.
The fact that primary receipts
were again heavy acted as a curb
on bullish sentiment and so, too,
did persistent selling of May and
July .from some commission
houses that were buying Decem
ber. Apparent prospects of imme
diate farm relief legislation at
Washington was partly responsi
ble for an upward tendency
which the wheat market showed
during the earlier dealings. Be
sides quotations at Liverpool
were higher, additional rains in
Argentine were reported and
there was a further reduction
of 20,000.000 bushels In esti
mated Argentine exportable sur
plus. On the other hand do
mestic milling demand was only
fair, and the only European buy
ing reported was confined to
wheat grown in Canada

State Land Board Wins
In School Fund Case
A Judgment in favor of! Ben
W. Olcott, Sam A. Kozer and O.
P. Hoff, comprising the state
land board, against Ella S. Gay
ct al was handed down by Judge
George Bingham in the circuit
court yesterday.
The defendants, according to
the plaintiff's complaint, bor
rowed $450 from the irreducible
school fund in November, 1901
at 6 per cent interest. Although
the interest was paid to Jan
uary 1921 it was claimed that
nothing was paid on the prln
ciple. A mortgage on property
owned by Ella Gay was given
to secure the loan. Since that
time however the plaintiffs al
leged, the property had changed
hands a number oT times. AU
those interested in the particular
piece of property were mentioned
as defendants in the case.
At the time the case came on
for trial none of the defend
ants appeared and judgment was
awarded to the plaintiffs on de
fault. It included $501.85 prin
ciple and interest. $50 attorney
fees and provided that the prop
erty be sold at sheriff's sale
immediately, to be applied on
the debt.
