Levy's health was much improved by the trip to the coast. , ' Miss Nora Lebrow, formerly rtenographer in the Ladd Bosh bank, has returned from Cottage Grove where she visited with her brother. Miss Lebrow will go soon to Portland to enter a nurses training school. A pleasant surprise shower was given Wednesday evening in hon or of Miss Joe Grounds, an August bride-elect. The gifts, which were many and beautiful, as well as useful, arrived in a decorated suit case, the color scheme being blue and white. The evening waa spent with music, and later delicious re freshments were served. Guests invited for the evening were Miss Doris Allen, Miss Ruby Allen, Miss Minnie Peterson. Two days and nights of rain have driven tourists and pleasure seek ers indoors, and hiking parties. J scenic rides and i fishing : excur sions have been postponed, The 'Natatorium, skating rink, dance halls and movie houses are crowded to capacity. The Casino dance hall, under the management of Mr. Koerth of Salem, is unrivalled in poptilar-H ity. Music is furnished by a six piece orchestra. Newport is proving attractive to Oregon's politicians, as shown by the large numbers of commit teemen and office seekers now in the city.
