First Fatality Occurs The first fatality in Oregon this season in connection with fight ing forest fires was reported to the state industrial accident com mission yesterday. The victim was : J. M. Holcomb. who was employed by the Columbia county fire patrol association. ' He was struck by a snag, and died as a result of bis injuries. Mr. Hol comb is survived by a widow and one son. The commission yester day approved a claim ot $16,000 in favor of Mrs. Holcomb and her child. The amount will be paid In monthly installments of $30 to the widow and $8 to the son. This amounted to 24,- 336,850 feet, of which 14,947.- 861 feet was for domestic cargo delivery, and 9,388,989 feet was for overseas shipment. New busi ness fcr delivery by rail amount ed to 1,6 8 4 cars. Thirty-two per cent 1 of the week s lumber shipments moved by water. This amounted to 26,- 958,136 feet, of which 20.852, 696 feet moved coastwise and inter-coastal; and 6,105,440 feet export. Rail shipments amount ed to 1.8S0 cars.
