Evans, formerly of the Portland Hunt club restaurant, has opened a prill room facing the ocean. He plans to conduct a high class restaurant. A dance pavilion over the grill will face toward the beach also. The fam ous Bi-IIo-De-Mar orchestra has charge of the dance pavilion and will be open afternoons and eve nings. Hotels Remodeled The Abbey hotel Is being re paired and made ready for the summer season. Mr. and Mrs. Ab bey spent the winter in Portland and San Francisco and are now ready-for the tourist season. , - The. Gilmore, formerly the Cliff House, will open with the usual accommodations. The hotel has been remodeled and refurn ished. B. Meger of Portland has purchased the Xicolal hotel and has remodeled it from top to bot tom. The Nicolai has been closed for two seasons and is now open ing with all new furniture and has been, completely renovated throughout. Chris Arms of Salem is operat ing; the Sea Crest cottages this year. r. and Mrs. Arms spent the. winter, in California inspecting beach resorts, t T? Cottages Are Plentiful N'ewport is considered to have more cottages than any other re sort in the state with better natu ral facilities and will undoubtedly attract more than the usual num ber of Salem families this season. In addition to other conveniences offered to those spending the sea son there is that of having a local bank which caters to tourists. The popular Mint borne Sea baths, whieh Salem folks have for several seasons enjoyed is now open under the direction of W. T. Crocker. Dr. F. B. Bogess, chiro practor of Caldwell.
