The dual track meet was held
at Forest Grove Friday between
the picked athletes of the two
schools, 12 men to each team.
Coacb Bohler took his two auto
loads of track stars and an extra
truck for the medals and they
all came home last night, tired
and happy and with the medals
on their chests and the bacon in
the trunk. They rang the victory
bell as If Waller hall was again
on fire. -
Pollock was the particular star
or the day. winning four first
places; in the 100 and the 220,
the 220 low hurdles and the high
Jump. In all these events he
mode good time. This is the best
meet he has ever participated in,
with the best records, and It is
his very last college athletic ex
ploit, for he graduates a week
from Wednesday.
Logan, the star forward and
the new captain of the Bearcat
basketball team, and the distance
star of all the smaller colleges
of the valley, took three firsts.
the half mile, the mile and the
two mile runs. He had not been
hard pushed in the two shorter
run3, so Coach Bohler put him
n the two-mile to save the Bear
cat credit that was beginning to
look like a July fifth firecracker.
He won, handily, with Clare
Geddes, his team mate, a good
econd. That was the event that
saved the Willamette victory,
Pacific has a formidable quar
tet of quarter-mile runners, who
took all the places in tne quarter-
mile run and the mile relay. Pa
cific took first in the high hur
dles, with "Bill" Vinson jeeond.
Vinson had beaten the Pacific
entrant at the Salem non-confer
ence meet, but lost out yesterday
by a narrow margin.
In the pole vault the Vinson
brothers. Bill and Jack, tied at
10 feet 10 inches; there was no
competition to drive them any
higher. In the broad jump
Strevey held first up to the last
round, when a P. U. lea per top
ped his mark by one inch, mak
ing 20 feet 2 inches. Bill Vin
son was third in this event. Bill
Vinson also took second tn the
220 hurdles and placed in the
discus. Ashby took first in the
Javelin throw, with 141 feet, and
Oralapp was beaten by three inch
es for first place on the shot put
or a throw of 34 feet 2 inches
Willamette took nine firsts to
Pacific's six, but the Forest Grove
team counted heavily in seconds
Pacific beat Willamette in
football this year; won one and
lost one game of basketball; lost
two games of baseball; won over
Willamette in one conference
meet at Eugene, and lost in the
meet at Salem two weeks ago;
and this dual meet goes to Wil
lamette.' It is the best seasoa
record Pacific has ever had
against the Bearcat athletes in
a long series of contests.
