Allison of Eugene, formerly a resident of this city was an honored guest at a pleas ant gathering Thursday afternoon Seventh National Convention ot Y.W. C. A. Draws Women from AH Corners of Globe to Hot Springs, Ark. Mice Wenger and M. J. Cernik on guitar and mandolin, a quar tet composed of Mrs. Siler, Mrs. I. W. Richards, Mrs. Guy Wilcox, and Mrs. Hedda Swart. Read ing's were given by Mrs. J. W. Richards and Len Fishback. The program was of humorous nature and made delightful entertain ment. Delicious refreshments served by the hostess was enjoyed. First ' ' Christian church school taught by the pastor, J. J. Evans, gave a social on Friday evening in the church parlors. The mem bership is composed of men and women and row numbers more than 100, with an average. attend ance of 70.. General and Mrs. Blatchford of Vancouver Barracks, stopped in Salem Friday for a few hours at the home bf Governor and Mrs. Ben W. Olcott. General Blatch ford is commandant at Vancouver Barracks and Mrs. Blatchford takes an active part socially both at the army post and in Portland. They were returning from tha military tournament at Oregon Agricultural college at Corvallis. The largest exclusive viol' re cital of the season was given at the First Christian church Wed nesday evening- when Miss Eliza beth Levy presented her students in " recital. The ' church ' was crowded with music lovers who showed their appreciation by pro longed applause after, each , num ber.
