McBride of the supreme court left yesterday af ternoon for an over-Sunday visit at his home at Deer Island, about 10 miles from St. Helens. Busselle of 757 Center street was reported to have been slightly in jured, according to police reports. According to Mr. Lotar, bad weather prevented his seeing Mrs. Busselle in time to prevent the mishap. It was reported that Loter attempted to pass a street car while it was discharging , passen gers, a violation of a city ordi nance. Huston of 1238 Boston avenue, yesterday reported to the police that he had been involved in au accident with a car driven by J. F. Zielinskie of Salem. Ac cording to tbe report, Huston was driving west on State street when he encountered the car driven by J. F. Zielinski who was proceeding north on Church street. Both cars were damaged, it was stated. Marry Improves Joseph Marcy. the father of Mrs. Minnie Bates, who was struck by an auto and injured a tew days ago in Portland has left the Good Samaritan hospital and is now at his home in Sellwood progressing as well as can be expected. McDougal has filed a petition with the Marlon county circuit court asking that the di vorce suit of Isobel McDougal against Walter L. McDougal be dismissed. Mrs. McDougal has filed an affidavit with the court stating that their differences had been settled and that they are now living together as man and wife in Portland. R. J. Passers-by on the boulevards were surprised recently to see a distinguished look'ng man greet a taxicab driv er and kiss him on both cheeks, the regulation salutation between Russians. The passenger was a Russian admiral and the chauf feur was a former Russian gene ral, celebrated during the first period of the war. now earnips his living by driving a taxicab. F. Saucier of Mill City is in Salem for an over-Sunday '.sit. She says that Friday night there was a snowfall of eight Inches in the Mill City district, the heaviest snow of the winter. She also says the climate of Mill City is much superior to that around Salem, and that up in the mountains they have had but lit tle cold weather this winter. The first drill will be held Mon day evening at the Salem Shrine mosque. M. L. Supper will bo served at 5:30 and this will b3 followed by an evening service. Circuit Court Adjourns The next term of the Marlon county circuit court will begin on March 20. The Jury that served last week has been dis charged. The grand jury drawn last week will not meet until a few days before the beginning of the spring term. Verdict for Iefendant In the suit of J. E. Northcutt against H. W. Cooley. the jury returned a verdict in favor of the defendant. The suit was over -loss alleged to have suffered by the plaintiff in the sale of cows which he alleged were diseased at the time of the sale. Damages asked for amounted to $1 400.
