Police cars are called on for un usual service in that they are ac tually in service or likely to be called on at any time of day or night. Once every month they are "steamed out" at the city cor ral, and the police officers say that this is 90 per cent of the at tention given the Dodge Brothers cars. The police reporter of the El Paso Morning Times tells an in teresting story of an actual chase in one of the Dodge Brothers cars which Illustrates the treatment they are sometimes given. "I have Just been held up by two masked men at so-and-so cor ner. I'll wait here for you!' comes a nervous voice over the telephone. "Blue-coated figures rush for the Dodge Brothers cars, and in an instant are on their way to the scene of the robbery. Up dark alleys, through unpaved streets, across litter-covered lots, up steep embankments, and to places one would consider impassible, tbe Dodge Brothers cars are driven in the search. Two figures are seen to cross the canal bridge. The car and reversed until the street in tersection is reached. Not know ing the roadbed upon which the car travels, the driver points his car directly after the of fenders Using the car as a bulwark, a gun battle - follows. The radiator is filled with bullets, but the bandits are finally captured. In the bullet-ridden car . they are trans ported to the -police headquarters. "No jwonder," adds the police reporter, "that all the police offi cials are unanimous in their praise of the Dodge Brothers cars." One IDodge Brothers car has stood up well under this kind ot service since 1917, and the other two hve served since 1918 and 1919 respectively. Mr. Billingsley is superin tendent of city street railway lines in Salem and Eugene. This is rather a remarkable sals, says George Vic, as neither the Bil lingsleys por Vick Brothers have seen the car, its picture or speci fications. The car was sold al together on the reputation of the Paige cars and the company's ability to build real quality cars. Vith this: in mind, Mr. and Mrs. Billingsley are glad to be the first owners of the Jewett in Sa lem.
