Rqseburg-Myrtle Creek Pave( Mrytle Creek-Canyonville Ma cadam is completed from Myrtle Creek to the Umpqua river, a dis tance of six miles and the remain ing three miles to Canyonville ia being' macadamized; the road over this section is fair. Canyonville-Galesvllle Good macadam. Oalesville-Wolf Creek rav ing in progress at both ends, 12 miles are already completed leav ing about 2 miles to complete. Be tween the hours of 7:30 a. m. and 5:3V p. m. south bound traffic is detoured over the old road via Glendale to Stage Road Pass. This tour is in fair condition to Glen dale! and from there to Stage Road Pass the road has been late ly graveled. ' Wolf Creek - Grave Creek: Paved. This section Is being wid ened and wlren wet the pavement S the 1 Quality Cart is slippery and it may become nec essary to use chains. Grave Creek - Pleasant Valley: Good macadam. Pleasant Valleyi- Grants Pass: Paving operations; have started about tw miles north of Grants Pass, two miles (being already completed. Short '- re provided around most of 4thi3 work. Where detours are net vailable, traffic! is allowed to i pass through with but snort de lays. ! Grants Pass - Through Medford, Ashland - California line: paved. Highway over SisHiyou mountains will be kert open throughout win ter season by moaiis of snow plows when nscessary. j Columbia Rlvpr Hiffhway Astoria - Portland: Paved ex cept about one mle through city of Rainier, which lis graveled but quite rough. Portland - Mos3er: paved. Mosler - The Dalles: Paving operations under j way one mile east of.Rowena. i Road closed from 7 a. m. to 1?:15 noon. Open 12:15 noon to j 12:45. Close 12:45 to 5:30 p. m The cars which are in line! and waiting at the point if paying operations will be allowed, to pass through at 10 a. m. and 3 p. m. Open B:3o p. m- to 7 a. m. ! Travel can de tour over Seven flile Hill at all hours. The Dalles - Reufert: Paved. Seufert - Deschutes River: New highway open for about 300 yards past Cape Horn only 12 feet wide. Contractors still working at this point, and travelers are cautioned to drive slow. Balance of road new gravel. and still loose on the sides. Cars are iarned to drive slow and keep on gravel when passing. Deschutes River - Heppner Junction: Good gravel or crushed rock road the entire distance. Heppner Junctibn - Pendleton, through Umatilla.! Hermlston and cho; standard state highway con struction; gravel macadam. ; West Side Pacific Highway! Portland - West Dayton: pated; West Dayton - St. Joe: graveled and In fair condition. County road from West i Dayton to Mc Minnville via Dayton and Three Mile Lane paved land open to traffic 1 St. Joe - McMlnnville: paved. McMlnnvllle - iAmity: U bid road which gTaveled but rough. Amity - Holmesj Gap: paved ex cept short graveled stretch near Holmes Gap. ! Holmes Gap - Rickreall: Newly graded and graveled, passable but slow going. I Rickreall - Monmouth: paved Monmouth - Corvallis: Paved ex cept seven miles just south of Monmouth, which is closed to through traffic. Through traffic to points east of Salmon River have option of road' via Marmot which is passable but very rough. Brightwood to Government camp: Dirt road but soil is sandy and road is passable and fair go ing. Tualatin Valley Highway Portland - McMinnville: Paved entire distance except short sap at St. Joe. CorvaHJs-Xewiort Highway Corvallis - Blodgett: Good grav eled road via Philomath. Blodgett - Toledo: Road impas sable since rains. Toledo - Newport: Passable with prospects of being rocked be fore next rains. Willamette Valley-Florence High Way Fair to Horton (over High Pass road): Rocked and in fair condi tion from Horton to Blachly. (Low Pass closed on account of con struction) Road impassable after rains. Coos Ray-Roseburg Highway Roseburg - Coos Bay Highway: Closed on account of construction between Remote and Bridge, Coos county. Open from Roseburg to Camas Valley and from Coquille to Bridge for local traffic. Medford - Crater Lake Highway Road open to Prospect; the new grade from Cincaid's place, 10 miles northeast of Medford to Somethino: to The owner of a 490 He need not only be proud of his car but also proud of his good judgment in the price. Alsea Highway Corvallis - Walport: Good from Corvallis to Philomath and grav eled most of way to Alsfa yond Alsea, impassable since rains. CHALMERS PROVES ITSELF III IB Oklahoma Motorist Tells of Recent Severe Testing Experience W. A. Jetton of Quinton. Okla., took a vacation trip In his Chalm ers this summer, covering parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Ten nessee, that almost convinced him that the Chalmers was a boat and not an automobile. Just after starting out on his trip, Mr-i Jetton and party were (caught in severe rain storms on a highway which was under con struction aigl still soft. It was soon a sea of mud but the Chalmers plOgged through. On the way back several weeks la ter he ran into more rain in Ark ansas along the Mississippi.
