A new form of contract between
Mf.egtock 'shippers and railroad
coihpanies, designed for the pro
tection of the shippers, has beea
adopted by the public service com
mission to supplant contracts that
hate been in use since 1909 and
which are now. obsolete.
Two contracts were adopted In
190 9 between the old railroad
commission and the railroads. One
ot ftiiefe was for low value ship
ments and the other for higher
value shipments. Due to changed
conditions the low value contract
has become obsolete. Tbe purpose
of .the contract Is to furnish a
basis for damage claims In event
there is occasion for such claims.
Under the new contracts Che low
value feature Is eliminated and
shippers will be at liberty to esti
mate the value of the'r shipments
themselves. Other feature of tbe
contract grew at variance with
regulations governing Intrastate
shipments. The new contracts are
effective April 30. ,
