Mr. Lane sent a message to Secretary of Labor Davis repeat ing charges that the packers were trying to precipitate a premature strike and that they had threat ened to discharge employes who failed to support the "Industrial democracy" plan recently put in to effect by Armour and company. Mr. Lane appealed to Secretary Davis to use his influence to pre vent an open break before the conference at Washington Mon day. The packers denied both of Mr. Lane s charges.
