The Telephone Company is asking the State of Oregon,? for an increase in telephone rates. As shown by the following figures taken from an exhibit just filed with the Pub lic Service Commission, it is now and for some years past' has been operating at a loss. With such results it is not possible to develop or satisfactorily maintain a telephone plant. :Such a showing to the investor will not enable us to obtain the outside funds neces sary for extensions and permanent improvements. Oregon must and will grow, must have added revenue. To play its part in this growth the Telephone Company We are asking for rates which will enable us to pay a reasonable return on our investment.
