one of the most daring and dan
gerous yeggs who has ever oper
ated here, in the opinion of the
local police.
Wagner was first arrested here
by Detectives Goltx. Day and
Snow in the Ohio hotel. First and
Madison streets, and was convict
ed, with others of blowing a hail

sentenced to the penitentiary and
paroled in 118.
Late in 191 ft. Wagner, with two
others, was convicted of-.blowing
the safe of Walter Kalunki at As
toria. Afterward he wasiarrest
ed in St. Joseph, Mo., through the
efforts of Captain Joseph F. Kelr
ler, former state parole officer.-

Earl Riley, an automobile thief.

penitentiary, where he was serv
ing a 40-year sentence. A week
afterward he blew-a safe in a
store at Scottsburg. Or., stealing
amounts estimated at $20,000.

went armed on a "job" and that
he would never shoot anyone.
