Cars Mpwd l"n r Two cars on the Pacific high way were traveling in the same direction (at least they were a cne time), when the one in the rear attempted to pass, struck the front car at just the right angle causing it to buck somewhat a the treatment, and turn a somer sault into the ditch. Frightened at the turn of events the rear car bolted in the" opposite direction and landed right side np in the ditch on the opposite side of the road. The drivers. A. A. Kngle- hart and a Mr. Finegan of Eu gene, met and well, talked about it. Mr. Enrlehart was consider ably bruised and his car damaged mmw$ St Louis Car Company Hat Conflagration ST. LOUIS. Oct. 12.-The plant of the St. Louis Car company, oc cupy I nx 16 acres in the northern edge of the c'.ty ts threatened by fire of undetermined origin, which broke' out at 12:15 o'clock this morning. Th fire started in the bnildlnr occupied by the milling depart ment and was quickly communi cated to adjoining structures. Firemen were handicapped In their efforts to combat the blazs by an inadequate wat?r supply. Police estimated the minimum damage at $600,000. From the milling department the fire swept on to the lumber yard, where a larg-a amount of material was stored, then grad ually worked its way to other buildings. PERSONAL MENTION W. A.
