Relief from what was described
as possible "destruction jof the
livestock ..industry through cur
tailment of banking loans" was
sought from - the federal reserve
board today by a- committee or
livestock producers. -They asked
the board to encourage banks r
the reserve system to aid tbem fi
nancially la raising and market
ing their product. ... .' -
The committee, which came as
the representatives, ot a Cbicaxo
conference of producers, packers
and bankers, predicted dire con
sequences to the livestock Indus
try throughout the west unless
bankers and cattle loan compan
ies discontinue "calling" loans.
They said millions of dollars in
loans were maturing this fall and
they believed a reassurance from
the board that It approved of such
credit extension by the banks
