Women will take a more active
and conspicuous part In the forth
coming state fair than in any held
hitherto, many names of promi
nence having already ibeen an
nounced. The state will be well
represented in this respect, ma
trons and maids from yarious cit
ies throughout Oregon to serve in
a aofial as 'well as in a business
end professional way. Occupying
, a place of foremost importance in
the first-mentioned capacity will
be the women who preside as pat
ronesses for the- different nights
of the horse show. v
Similar honors will be con
ferred upon the women who will
be in charge of Woman's day,
which has not yet been definitely
set aside, but which, will probably
be given a place during the mid
week. ;
Americanization Emphasized
Americanization day stands out
pre-eminently in interest and will
be entirely under the jurisdiction
of Mrs. Isaac Lee Patterson of
Salem. Assisting her as patron
esses will be the wives of the for
eign consuls and those of pastors
of foreign-speaking churches both
in the Capital city and Portland,

the clutch faced on both sides, as is the usu
al construction, in the MACK AC clutch the
facing; made of thermoid, is' attached at its
; inner drcumf erenceto the disc, "which is of
flexible metal and riveted to a splined hub
carried loosely on the clutch shaft end. The
friction surface of the friction ring is there
fore perfectly smooth, being without rivets.

streets have not complained of the
downpour of rain, says Officer W.
