THERE has ben a. general exo
dus from Salem for over the
week-end, almost every family
has.gone to some favorite fishing and
recreation rpot or else rone to one of
tbe numerous beaches nearby to
spend the week-end and the holiday
' tomorrow, retting away from the
beat which has clothed the city for
the week. The social events daring
the week have been In the nature of
Informal al fresco gatherings for the
most part, with, most of the enter
talning being for visitors. A very-delightful

Doney's bouse guests who have come
In for much entertaining, was the
Kensington which Mrs. K. C. Rich
ards and Mrs. William E. Kirk were
. hostesses for. asking about 40 ma
trons to meet Mrs. O. B. Evans and
Mrs. L. A. Lamb at the Kirk home
yesterday afternoon. It was Infor-
mal and chatting over their fancy
work the guests found these two vis
itors most charming.
The rooms of the 'Kirk home were
very attractively done in yellow and
white with the Shasta daisies and
marigold being effectively combined
about the rooms. In the later after
noon the hostesses served a dainty

Miss Elizabeth Levy, leave today for
their trip to Europe which will take
tbem from the city lour months.
They were accompanied as far as
Portland by Mr. Levy and Harry
Levy. On their way east' they will
make short visits in Seattle. Chicago
and at Niagara Falls. In New York
city they wilt be the house guests or
Mr. and Mrs. Jute Janover. They
are to sail on the Imepator from New
York July 15. and will first visit for
a week In London and will visit-Mrs.
Levy's brother, Giilllamue Van
Straaten la Antwerp, being there to
attend the Olympic games.- They
Will also visit in-Paris where Miss
Levy will coach with some of the
masters of the violin. Tbey plan to
visit tbe battlefields.
Miss Levy is one of the very tal
ented violinists of the state and has
given generously of her time and tal
ent for philanthropic work, especial
ly during the WoTld war. She goes
to Europe to study more deeply tbe
violin on which she Is so capable.
Mrs, Levy will return in four months
while Miss Levy perhaps wfll remain
for a longer time to study.
