association will have its first annual
banquet next Friday evening at the
Marion hotel. The organization was
recently formed and the members
include all alumni of the Salem high
school. At this meeting officers will
be elected for the coming year and
other important business will be
transacted. The committee in charge
is making elaborate plans for a
most successful party, which comes
at a time when the alumni who are
in school at O. A. C. and the Uni
versity of Oregon are home for their
spring vacation and will perhaps be
largely attended by all alumni. Les
lie Springer will be toast master for
the evening.

the Rapheterian club members at
her home Thursday afternoon for a
delightful time. About 20 matrons

short address. "The Latest Spring
Fashion." a short playlet, will be
given by the children of Miss Ros-
enquest's room. At the tea hour
tea will be enjoyed.
Mr. and' Mrs. John Bayne will
have with them this week their
daughters. Miss' Florence Bayne of
Portland, who arrives Monday to
pass a week with her parents, and
Miss Mary Elizabeth Bayne. a stu
dent at O. A. C who came home

the announcement that Mr. and Mrs.
Charles G. Miller of the Marlon ho
tel wtll soon leave Salem for Car
son. Wash., which, with Fred Miller,
they have recently purchased. Dur
ing the fonr years residence In Sa
lem the Millers have been active in
society and have endeared them
selves to many who are sorry to see
them leave.
Mrs. Mort Pilkinjcton entertained
at a prettily appointed dinner in
honor of her husband's birthday on
Saturday at their home in the Court
apartments. The table was centered
with a bowl of yellow spring flowers
and dainty little place cards were In
keeping with the yellow color
scheme. Plates were laid for Mr.
and Mrs. John Brophy. Mr. and Mrs.
A. E. Laflar. Miss Inez Fitts. Budd

day night the members of the Mon
day Afternoon Bridge club and their
husbands for a dinner. Green spring
flowers and green flags formed an
attractive centerpiece, and St. Pat
rick's place cards marked places for
24 guests. 'Following the dinner
the evening was happily passed with
five hundred.

dils and wild huckleberry which ad
ded a not of spring color. During the
afternoon Mrs. J. B. Littler read a
chapter Trom the book which Mrs. B.
L. Steeves wrote on her travels last
summer, which was very iteresting.
Mrs. Ronald Cover delighted her
guests with a vocal solo. In the din'
ing room where light refreshments
were served, violets were used as a
pretty centerpiece for the table. Mrs.
George H. Alden poured and was as
sisted by Mrs. Cecil Hawley. Mrs. S.
Mott and Mrs. Lloyd Mott. Assisting
hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs.
William Byers. Mrs. Ben West, and
Mrs. I. L. McAdams. About 23 wo
men were present.

tained the Salem O. A. C. club at the
Hansen home on Mill street Thurs
day evening in a very happy manner.
Shamrock and green bats, emblems
of Erin, were used with green crepe
paper to decorate the rooms. In the
refreshments which were served. St.
Patrick's colors were effectively
used. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Pearce of
Aumsville were out-of-town members
of the club who were present.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David
Wright, entertained with a happy

been passing a short visit with Salem

The Marlon County Children's bu
reau will glre a Jitney dancing party
at the armory Tuesday evening, the
proceeds or which will go to bring
necessary articles to carry on the
clinics which are held once a month
by the bureau aand are given under
the auspices of the Marion County
Children's bureau.
Mrs. E. Hofer left Friday for Port
land to visit with her son-in-law and

from Portland where she visited for
a week with her sister. Mrs. J. A.
