Rev. Dr. Mahood, Evangelist
Wins Many With His Open
Method of Speech
The neconrt week of the revival at
the First Methodic church began last
nij?lit with a mining sermon by the
Rev. J. W. Mahood upon the text "I
was in prison and yet came unto
me.' '
Vr .M.ahood does not "beat about
the bush" in his sermons but speaks
direc to his audience and applies his
tex.t to every day conditions In so
ciety. He pointed out many com
inon prisons in the lives of his audi
tors and brought home to scores who
heard him the vital necessity of re
moving many vice that have fas
tened themselves upon this communi
ty, as well as the nation at large, and
which "are destroying many people
who are unable to withftand thfir
allurements. His appeals have not
miscarried and Sunday morning and
evening as well last night many
were converted and have pledged
themselves to a more consecrated life
And Dr. .Mahood does not direct his
appeals to those without the church
only, but with penetrating inxicht
divines the imperfections within the
church nnd points the way to their
correction and among those who are
resDonding to his invitation are
many church members of all denom
inations. While Rev. Dr. Mahood is a Meth-j
