F. Holt to Close Ser vice in Salem With Sun : day's Meetings Dr. G. F. 'Holt closes his pastor ate with the First Baptist church of this city with the services of Sun day. - Tuesday with hla family he leaves for Seattle which will be their fu ture home. Dr: llolf having accepted! the position of director of promo tion for the Weft Washington Bap tist convention. ', Dr. Holt has been pastor here sine March 1, 191 6, coming here from Riverside. Cal.. where he had a suc cessful pastorate of over eight years. The church has had a gratifying growth i under Dr. Holt's ministry. 327 members having been received during the four years. The present membership Is 717. From March 31. 1516 to March 31. 1920, approximately $25,000 will have been ; raffed : and expended: $8200 for missions and benevolences. $2400 to pay an indebtedness, $1800 for improvements to property and $12,500 for current expeurea. The church is practically out ol debt. A' fine spirit of harmony and in terest prevails among the members All the organizations of the church are doing excellent work. The bro therhood which was organized dur ing the present pastorate is one of the most efficient organizations of the Church. Dr. Holt's influence has been felt in all movements for the better ment of the community. He is a member of the Commercial club,' Y M. C. A.. Salem Ministerial ass pel tion and Red Cross.' He nartlcltfated in many of the drives during th war period and delivered many pa triotie messages.
