Meetings Disturb Merchant
. The Apostolic Faith Organization
was holding a meeting in front, of
the husiness premises of Claude Belle
yesterday afternoon. Mr. Belle asked
th police to hare the organization
to hold its meeting somewhere else
as It interfered with his business.
Officer Thompson answered the re
quest and, the organization was asked
to meet elsewhere.

The body of Rev. Silas Williams

Holmes Alleges $700 Dde for
Expense in Reddish Farm
Lease Matter
H. A. Holmes filed suit in circuit
cotfrt yesterday against the state
game commission to prevent the pay
ment of alleged claims against the
Ktate that have been incurred during
the lease of the Reddish farm In Lane
county, which was leased by the
commission to be used as a farm for
the propagation of China pheasants.
Several months Holmes succeeded
through the circuit court In restrain
ing the commission from buying the
tract on grounsd that they were with
out legal authority to do so.
After the Institution of this suit
the game commission leased the farm
sppsrently with the view of buying
It after the litigation. It was al
leged with words to this effect by
Holmes that if the commission won
the suit they would buy It ontlrght
but if the suit ended In his favor
they Intended to purchase it indi
rectly by usyments of ISO a month.
The siut Is still pending In the court.
During the term 'of the lease of
the farm by the game commission
expenses alleged to be about 8700
have been Incurred. Holmes claims
be at the following warned places on
the dates given below.

Stayton. January 27 and 21: Tarutr.
January 30 and 31; Jefferson. Jan
nary 30 and 31: Wood burn; Febru
ary 2 to 4, Inclusive: Silveitoa, Feb

72. wife of W. M. Hiilory of Browns
ville and formerly of " Turner was
held yesterday afternoon from the
First Methodist church at Turner.

George E. Cornelius. She died at
Brownsville Thursday where she had

eral years lived at Turner. In 1867
she was married to . W. M. Hlllory.
Of their three children only one, sur

yesterday by Senator Walter Pierce

working of the Grange co-operative
exchange of Portland and discussed
co-operation among farmers. Durinr
the session many members subscribed
for stock in the organisation.
Business in Morning.
The meeting lasted all day. The
morning session was devoted largely
to business snd st noon a dinner was
served by the women of. the grange.
Convening at one o'clock the meeting
wss thrown open. Mrs. Charles Max
well gave a number of vocal solos.
The addresses completed the day's
program.
