Cigarette Law Violated Say Complaints to Brown Attorney General Brown will call the attention of district attorneys of Oregon to numerous complaints of violations of the cigarette laws that are being received at his office. Pro tests are , being received daily that officers are too lax in enforcing the law against the use of cigarettes by minors. Many of them come from parents. None has been received from any anti-cigarette organization. The anti-cigarette law. making It an offense for youths under 21 years old to smoke cigarettes or for deal ers to sell them to minors was passed by the legislature of 1917 and is set forth in chapter 244 of the 1917 session laws.
