It is specially desired by the commit tee to have as the county ostside of Salem join in the observance of the day and to make the occasion one of good fellowship and Jubilation in honor of Victory Independence day. Tons of Telegrams and Nail Reach Corporations -Very .few people realize the amount of mail and telegrams han dled by a big corporation. Very few towns with 40.000 population can boast as many letters, packages and telegrams received and sent every day as can the B. F. Goodrich Rub ber company, at its factory la Akron, Ohio. During the year 1918 the tele graph division of the company re- cefved 1,493 messages and sent 51, 529, a total of 113,022 mesages. The aproximate cost. Including both those received and sent aggregated the sum of $33,470. During the bus iest month of 1918 a total of 10.- 908 messages pas3ed through this office. The largest telegram handled contained 1.960 words. On January 30. 1919. the mail di vision received aid handled - alto gether 17.870 pieces of mail. The postage needed to keep the Goodrich mail going represented a small for tune the total amount came to $83,406. liberty Bond Coupon - Pays License Transfer The automobile registration de partment has received i personal checks, postof fice money orders, ex press money orders and numerous other forms of payment for motor car registrations and transfers of li censes, but Saturday received the first liberty bond coupon. This was for the transfer or a license for which a fee of $1 is charged. The coupon is worth $1.01. It was very acceptable.
