ORCHARD CLOVER.
Lambs gained mors than a pound
a day said ths tawes three pounds for
ths whole period In a S 2-day feed
ing test on orchard clover st the
Hood River. Oregon, branch agricul
tural experiment station conducted
by F. W. Allen. '
Eight ewes and lambs wer turned
on one aern of orchard clover. The
awes averaged Sl.vounds and lambs
26. but were thrifty.
-.The ewes gained three wounds
each In the 52 days, and the lambs
made an average gain of CS.S
pounds. iThe total gain "for the If
animals was SS4 pou'ads.
i The first acre of clover was 10
Inches high and was pastured down
In three weeks. The second acre was
finished In two weeks. This Indi
cates that eight ewes and eight
lambs can be carried on three acres
of orchard clover..

sheep at the agricultural college.
No serious damage resulted to thro
trees, but the foliage was browsed
off to a height of about three feet
