Good Road From Portland to California Country If you arc accustomed to wake uj with a coated tongue, foul breath or dull, dizzy headache; or, .if your meals sour and turn into gas and acid, you have a real surprise await ing you. To-morrow morning Immediatel) .upon arising, drink a (class of hot water with a teaspoonful of lime stone phosphate In it. This is in tended to first neutralize and then wash out of your stomach, liver, kid neys and thirty feet of intestines all the indigestible waste, poisons, sour bile and toxins, thus cleansing. sweetening and purifying the entire alimentary canal. Those subject to cick headaches. backache, bilious attacks, constipa tion or any form of stomach trouble. are urged to get a quarter pound of limestone phosphate from the drug store and begin enjoying this mornin Ing inside-bath. It is said that men and women who try this become en thusiastic and keep it up dally. Just as hot water and soap cleanse purify and freshen the skin, so hot water and a teaspoonful of limestone phosphate act on the stomach, liver kidneys and bowels. Limestone phos phate is an inexpensive white powder and almost tasteless. ALASKA TO SEND MOSS. JUNEAU. Alaska. April 10. (By Mail.) The Uritish and Canadian recruit ing commission stafr is actively en gaged In recruiting thronghout the whole or the United States and has In this dtrict at the present tne a traveling recruiting squad In charge of Lieutenant Evans of the Canadian engineers. Lieutenant Ev ans was in Salem yesterday, travel ing south by auto. This officer and non-ctimmisisoned officers are trav eling tbrougb the staty of Oregon In quest of eligible Ilrltlshers and Ca nadians for the British; and Canadian rmy. It was made public some time ago that all Britishers and Canadians of military age will be subject to be drafted Into military service imme diately after the conventions signed between the plenipotentiaries ot the two countries are ratified. This Is expected very shortly, and the ob ject ot this search being made for recruits in the way It is by traveling inroujLn me country is to give every Britisher and Canadian the oppor tunity to enlist voluntarily in the Urltisn or Canadian army. , All Brknrhjp Open. By doing so now they have the privilege of joining whatever branch of the service that they may wish. and it is stated that every branch of the British and Canadian service is open to enlistment at the present time. At such a time as men will be drafted all privileges of this kind will be dropped and men will be re placed wher they are most needed by the military authorities. Many men are needed in branches of the service such a the engineers, rail road construction, skilled railroad operating corps, and general con struction work, together with artil lery, tank corps, infantry, cavalry, and every other branch. . Many men are loath to enlist who have special abiity as tradesmen and mechanics because they doubt wheth er they may be used along the lines that they are accustomed to, but Lieutenant Evans gives assurance that a man's ability is today the thing that counts and is never lost sight of and is made use of to the utmost degree. Will Itrturn to Salem. Lieutenant Evans and his squad are working south 'from here and will be back in Salem in the course of a few days. Letters of inquiry may be addressed to him- at the Marion hotel, and notification will be made in this paper of the time he will be In Salem again, when -tie will be pleased to interview and give( In formation to anyone desiring it.'
