Methodist Conference at Oregon City Is Closed Th Salem district conference of the Methodist Episcopal church, held at Oregon City, from April 3 to 7. was In all respects very successful. The district Includes a territory as large as some of the Eurc -an states, with fifty-two ministerial appoint ments, and has sixty orJalned Meth odist ministers inside its boundary. The Rev. T. B. Ford, D. D.. dis trict superintendent, is credited with much ot the success of the confer ence. The program was one of the mast elaborate presented at any dis trict conference, and the papers lead and speeches made were of high order. The district conference Is said to have given, a new Impetus to Metho dism In this part of the country, and all expect that this year will be one of the best for the Methodist church in Oregon. Mrs.' Frances Clark, the county sucbool superintendent of Harney county, has submitted her report for the month of March showing that during this one month the amount invested in liberty bonds by pupils in her county wss $1450; amount In vested in war savings certificstes $1085; amount Invested In thrift stamps $457. The teachers and pupils of Harney county have Invested dur Ing the month of March a total of $4207 In liberty bonds, wsr-savings certificates, and thrut stamps Superintendent J. C. Conley of Wallowa county reports one school with sn- enrollment of twent-one which invested daring the month of March $1078. or an amount of over $51 for each pupil.
