! There is no "War After Death-'
Such Was the magnanimous re
ply of the Prussian Ambassador
toDan invitation to attend the fu
neral of the French diplomatic
representative in "Washington yes
terday. The sentiment was wor
thy of a great soul, and we honor
the man that tittered it. God
grant that the inspiration may
strike home in some of the baser
American hearts about Washing
tori which delighted in pursuing
the dead and heaping indignation
on. their graves. We commend it
especially to the savage head of
tfk) Army of the Republic, and bid
him learn from this stranger of a
foreign land now engaged in dead

Gerolt's humanity can drop a sprig
upon the grave of his country's
enemy in the midst of war; yet,

kindred and friends is refused to

has not yet reached Albany) and then
gives Den. Ilolladay the credit' and asks

to our observation, lately, that convince
us that Ben. la doing a great deal for
Oregon. It is a noticeable fact that the
l.tsfouvq seasons have been unusually nil id.
(he has been here two years,) and an old
farmer informs us that since Ilolladay
came to Oregon calves appear to come
larger, and grofatter than before : hens
lay larger eggs ; geese make a good deal
more noise ; and pigs appear to be much
wiser and more learned. Under this state
of facts, and taking the Bulletin's assu
rance that Ilolladay is the cause of this
happy change, we would not hesitate for
one moment to render him praise, but. for
the other fact that since he came to Oregon
the Chines measles have also come- Did

weather and large crops? Let the Bal

MAKE TIIE MAN".
Did You Ever Think
that those bold, defiant.energetic, persevering,
successful business men, are Always those
wlmse generative organs are in perfect
health?"
Von never hear such men complain of be
ing melancholy, of nervousness, or palpita

they-cannot succeed in business ; they don't
become sa'l and discouraged ; they are all
ways polite and pleasant in the company of
ladies, and look you and tbt-ni right in the
face none of 30111 downcast looks or other
meanness about them. I do not mean those
who keep the organs inflated by running to
excess. These will not only
RUIN THEIR CONSTITUTIONS,
but also those they do business with or for.
How many men, from badly cured diseases,
from the effects of self-abuse and excesses,
have'brought about that state of weakness in
those organs that has reduced the general
system so much as to induce almost every
other disease

spinal affections, suicide, and almost every
other form of disease which humanity is heir
to, and t lie real cause ot the trouble scarcely
