Oar Regular Correonclence.
Salem, Oct. 20, 1S70.
The State Fair was brought to a close
on Saturday, or more properly Friday
night last. A general feeling of disgust
is expressed about the intolerable dust on
the grounds of the society, which, being
once raised into the atmosphere remained
there, being buoyed up lrom the volume
continually coming from below. This
dust business, during the two or three
last days was so prominent and monop
olizing as to almost make the exhibition a
nuisance. To give your readers an idea
of what intensity the nuisance had be
come, imagine a dense log within a cir
cumference of two or three miles, hang
ing like a pall over a doomed spot which
the rays of the burning sun could pene
trate with this defference, that this fog
was dust instead of moisture. We would
not like to pay the losses to nice clothing
which the visitor were obliged to sustain
Numerous water-cart sprinklers could
have abated the nuisance. Let this be
attended to hereafter
