The O'egonCity Seminary commenced
last Monday. We learn that the Council
refused tiQendorse the selections made by
the manager, which caused considerable
excitement. This is the first time that any

Jos. DeFloney fell from a wagon, the
wheel passing ever him, last Monday. He
was considerably injured, but is recovering.

The Oregon and California Railroad
Company have now six first-class locomo

We learn from the Hon. W. II. Clark, iust
arrived from Canyon City, that the people
of that place, by no means disspirited bv
the late fire, are with commendable en
ergy building up the town again.
At Jacksonville on the morning of the
21st. two little daughters of Chas.k Paul,
who has just arrived from Minnesota. were
struggling for the possession of a small
pistol, when it exploded, and the young
est, aged about 9 years, was shot through
the breast, aud expired in a few minutes.
A man named Conno'y on Thursday
evening about six o'clock had some high
words with his wife. During the quarrel
he picked up a club and heather over the
head until she was lifeless, after which he
left the house, which is situated on Third
street near Taylor, and has not been seen
since. Connoly. it will be remembered, is
the man who killed Buckskin Bill,'" and
was sent to the Penitentiary for life, but
was subsequently patdoned by Governor
