trolling interest in the Oregon Iron Works

Accidkxt. On last Tuesday in thelend
of the river just below Independence, the
steamer Success struck alog, and knocked
a hole in the side of her about twelve feet
long. With the energy which character
ises the actions of the People's Transporta-
lion Company, the steamer will be repaired
ed and running again in less
than a week.
There will be a Chriimas tree at the
Episcopal Church on Christinas eve, ac
companied with the singing of ChrisMnas
carols by the children, caieehi.Jng by the
rector, and short addresses by the teach
ers. The public are cordially invited to
be present. On Saturday, being Christ
inas day. there will be religions services at
11 o'clock, a. m., at the same place.

first twenty roilos of the Oregon Central
Railroad, the said celebration to take place
on the day on which the first regular train
shall pass through said city.
On motion, a committee of five was ap
pointed to make proper arrangements.

clay, T. Charman, A. J. Apperson, John
Myers and Win. Barlow.
On motion, the following committee on
