The Indianapolis Sentinel has been
devoticg Itself to statistics with some
curious and interesting results. It
,
has been figuring on the chances a

bo baby has in this life, and when
one studies the results there may be
en inclination to conclude that the

numerous as tue amntuous young
American has been led to believe.
For instance, the Sentinel figures out
that the chances are 30,000,000 to
one that the baby boy will not be-
come president or vice-president of
the United States. This is supposed
. . , j... . ,
to be under ordinary conditions, for
it is presumed that an Ohio boy's
chances for becoming president are a
good deal better than those of a boy
from Rhode Island or Delaware. It
is estimated that the chances arc
410,000 to one that the boy will not
become a Ignited States senator, 1 03,-
330 to one that he wi
not be a rep-
. , oitr. nfir.
resentativc 10 congress, and 820,000
to one that
he
will not be governor
nf a .state. Incidentally the Sentinel
furnishes the gratifying information
that the chances are 588 to one that j
the boy will not go insane; 12o0 to j
., ... . , ... , 0., . , ,
one that he will not be blind ; 864 to
one that he will not be an inmate of
a public almshouse; 400 to one that
he will not be an enlisted soldier or
sailor; 1200 to one that he will not
be a city policeman, and 'J 1 1 7 to one
that he will never be president ot a .
national bank.
The annual report of the superin
tendent of the dead letter office
shows that people .have not become
less careless in using the mails as a
means of forwarding valuables and
letters. During the last year the
dead letter office received nearly
0,000,000 unclaimed letters alone.
Of these 87,8."2 were dropped into
the office without any address at all.
The number of letters reaching the
dead letter office which contained
money was 47,000 and the amount
"
of money enclosed aggregated $42.
854.72, while 17o,000 letters re
ceived at the dead letter office con
tained stamps, 39,000 letters con
taining drafts, notes and other valu
able papers, aggregating a face value
of $1,178,970, were likewise sent to
the dead letter office. The grand
total of letters, parcels, etc., opened
at the dead letter office, because of
no other means of determining for
whom they were destined or by whom
they were sent, was 7,00:3,751,
At the end of his administration
President Roosevelt will have one of
two impossibles to face. Either it j
will be impossible to nominate and
elect him or it will be impossible to I

be any uncertainty. The President
has a character that will be felt and
be is doing things that leave impres

talked of men the nation has had for
many years but opinions will not be
formed concerning him for some
time yet. The chances are greatly
in his favor and he has done nothing
yet that has not failed to appeal to
the American people. His inde

friends of M. A. Hogarty of Lexington,
Kv when tney flaw he wa8 turning yel-

bis eyes, and he suffered terribly. His
malady was Yellow Jaundice. He was
treated by the best doctors, but without
benefit. Then he was advised to try

taking two botties I was wholly cured."

Health nnl Keauty.
A poor complexion is usually the re
sult of a torpid liver or irregular action
of the bowels. Unless nature's refuse is
carried off it will surely cause impure
blood. Pimnleo. bnilnnnd nthir prnntirms
follow. This is nature's method iff
throwiugoffthe poisons which the bowels
failed to remove. DeWilt's Little Early
Kisers are world famous for remedying
this condition. They stimulate the liver
and promote regular and healthy action
of the bowels but never cause griping,
cramps or distress. Safe pills. Clarke

Attractive Women.
All women sensibly desire to be at
tractive. Beauty is the stamp of health
because it is the outward manifestation
of inner purity. A healthy woman is
always attractive, blight and happy.
When every drop of blood in the veins is
pure a beauteous flush is on the cheek.
But when the blood is impure, morose
ness, bad temper and a sallow complex
ion telle the tale of sickness all to plain
ly. And women today know there is no
beauty without health. Wine of Cardui
crowns women with beauty and attrac
tiveness by making strong and healthy
thoss organs which make her a woman.
Try Wine of Cardui, and in a month
your friends will hardly know you.
