Two Passenger Trains on the Wabash
Railroad io Michigan Meet in Head
End Collison at Foil Speed.
Dktuoit, Mich , Nov. 27. From 100
to 150 persons were killed or injured to
night in a wreck on the Wabash railroad.
Two heavily loaded passenger trains col
lided bead-on at fall speed, one mile
east of 8eneca, the second station west
of Adrian. The west-bnund train, com
posed of two care loaded with immi
grants and five other coaches, were
smashed and Darned, with immigrants
and fives other coaches, was smashed and
burned, with an awful loss of life and
fearful injuries to u raaj rity of it pas
sengers. The east bound passenger
train, the Continental Limited, suffered
in a scarcely less degree.
The track in the vicinity of tte wreck
is strewn with dead and dying. Many
physicians from Detroit have tone to
the scene. The west-bound immigrant
train, it is believed, disobeyed orders in
not waiting at Seneca for the weet-booiid
train, thereby causing the wreck.
The track at the point whtra the col
lision occurred was straight, and at first
the officials could not understand how
an accident could have happen. The
west-bound train, which ordinarily is
due to leave Detroit at 2 :S0 o'clock was
two hours late, leaving at 4:20 p. n. The
two train had been ordered to meet at
Mootpelier, Ohio, bat as stait d had been
ordered to meet at 8-necf-. The blame
is therefore placed on the conductor or
engineer of the east-bound (rain, tbe
accident would not have occurred bad
this train been Leld at Seneca.
Apparently tbe orders to wait were
disobeyed, nod tbe probabilities re that
the true story of the accident may never
be told, as tbe train cres undoubtedly
met instant death.
Advices from the wreck at midnight
state that tbe country for miles around
lighted up by the burning err, i nd
that the flumes could sot be quenched
because of tbe lick of proper apparatus.
Mangled bodies were picked up along
the track by the farmers, lefore the
epecial train cent from Adrian arrived
on the scene. In some instances bodies
has borne the
and has been made under his per
sonal supervision since its infancy
Allow no one to deceive you in this.

Mill Stone Reported Dead.
Washington, Nov. 28. The rumor tf
the death ot Mies Slone and her attend
ant, Mme. Teilka, which reached tl e
state department yesterday, came from
Turkish sources, the first informant be
ing the Vali of Salonica. The two women
were said to have been held captives at
two towns supposed to be on tbe Bul
garian frontier, bat which so far have
not been located in tbe atlases. Tbe
fact that both Mr. Eddy and Consul-
General Dickinson emphatically dis
credit the report of Miss Stone's death is
regarded here as indicating tbeir purpose
to contiune without relaxation their
tfforts to secure her release.
Attractive Women.
All women sensibly desire to be at
tractive. Beauty is the stamp of health
because it is the outward manifestation
of inner purity. A healthy woman is
always attractive, blight and happy.
When every drop of blood in the veins is
pure a beauteous flush is on the cheek.
But when tbe blood is impure, morose
ness, bad temper and a sallow complex
ion tells the tale of sickness all to plain
ly. And women today know there is no
beauty without health. Wine of Cardni
crowns women with beauty and attrac
tiveness by making strong and healthy
those organs which make ber a woman.
Try Wioe of Cardui, and io a month
your friends will hardly knew you.

London, Nov. 28. Throe hundred
gnests assembled this evening for the
Thanksgiving dinner given under the
auspices of tbe American Society in
London. Panl Cambon, French ambas
sador to Great Britain, proposed the
health of President Roosevelt. M.
Cambon paid a feeling tribute to the late
President McKinley, whose death, be
said, had scbocked France and koit tbe
sister republics in closer bonds of
eympathvand sorrow. While President
Roosevelt was an unknown quantity in
tbe world, said M. Cambon, bja was a
cultured, energetic and charming person
ality, and bis elevation to the presidency
bad been received in France with the
happiest anticipations of carrying on
those cordial relations which had existed
between the two countries for over a
century past.
Con an Doyle, the novelist, produced
perhaps the greatest effect of tbe evening
by declaring tbe pendulum of tbe com
mercial world bad now shifted to some
where between New York and Chicago.
