    Football Note.
Beltlen H. Grant, manager of the foot
ball nrganiz.ttlou here, is in correspond
ence with several parties who wish to
coach the teams recently organized, and
a BUitahle man will be efcured at once.
The fence will be completed early this
week, and Thursday's iratne between
the Portland High School and The
Dalles High Scliooi will occur on the new
grounds. Tue management have no de
sire to touch them ti-Ives, and are mak
ing a ball park for the benefit of the
town and rising generation. The price
for admittance will be only 25 cents,
g nts, ladles and children.
On Saturday afternoon The Dalles
team, playing nuder the auspice? of The
Dalles Commerci il and Athletic Club,
will meet the Pendleton boys on the
new grounds. It will be a warm game
fro a-, start to finish.
Tickets will be on sale tomorrow at B.
H. Grant's cigar store. Those de
siring to go will save delay and annoy
ance by purcharing before going to the
grounds.
The members of the high school team
are practicing faithfully every afternoon
on the beach. The members of both
teams bad 1 very livaly practice on last
Saturday afternoon and again on Bun
day afternoon. Ttie Dalles shows up
plenty of football spirit, and the players
are ready to meet the best of them.
The coach is expected before Satur
day's game, though he will have no
time to burnish them up foe the occa
sion. However the bos feel equal to
the emergency and will play a fast,
gritty and determined game.
Games on both Thursday 8nd Satur
day will be called at 6 o'e ock p. m.
