Lewlston Jail Delivery.
Lewistox, Idaho, Aug. 13. A deeper
ately planned jail-break resulted in five
prisoners effecting an escape from the
county jail last night. Tbe men had
been supplied with a bit and saw with
which they removed the lock of the
Pauly jail, and then drilled through an
iron corridor. Men on the outside met
them with horses. The escapes are
John Reamer, Frank Smith and Charles
Smith, cattle thieves; CbarleB Payne,
charged with burglarly, and Mox-Mox,
an Indian, charged with selling liquor to
Indians.
The several men assisting on the out
side were heavily armed, and as soon as
a hole was effected through the outer
wall passed weapons to the prisoners.
The prisoners, it is beiieved, have es
caped to the Salmon River Mountains.
Reamer, who is thought to have planned
the escape, is known to be a bad man,
and has served a term of six years in
the Idaho penitentiary. The jail is lo
cated in the residence district of the
city, and the escape was not detected
until 5 o'clock this morning.

Fire Catches Men Working in Lake
At Least Ten Are Dead and Two
Fatallv Injured.
Ci.evei.ash, 0., Aug. 14. Fire earlv
today destroyed a temporary waterworks
crib two miles out in the lake, resulting
in tbe death of at least ten men, while
two others were probably fatallv in
jured. In addition to a large number of
workmen who were in the crib, 11 others
were at work in the tunnel leading from
it 200 feet below the bottom of the lake.
As air, which was pumped from the crib
to supply the men working in the tunnel
was cut off, it was at first supposed that
these men had all perished. Subse
quently, however, nine of the men in
tt e tunnel were rescued after heroic work
on the part of their fellow workmen. It
is said that two men are etill in the
tunnel, but those rescued state that one
of these, Victor Kaufman, of Canton, is
dead.
Fire and harbor tugs with rescuing
patties on board reached the crib soon
after the fiames broke out, but when
they arrived the structure was a seething
mass of flames and all hopes of saving
it was abandoned. Men stark naked
CJiild be distinguished ewimming and
floating in the water shouting for help.
Otbere were clinging to ropes which
they bad tied to the ralters, but the
flames were burning the ropes away,
and one by one tbe men were falling
into tbe lake.
The tugs circled around the burning
crib, picking up men from the water and
meantime playing heavy streams upon
the flames.
After an hour's hard work the flames
were diminished enough to permit the
firemen to climb up the charred stens
and fight the fire from the interior.
Then the horror of the calamity was
first realized. Everything was a total
wreck. While the firemen was pouring
water on tbe flames there was a roaring
furnace beneath which could not be
reached. But the firemen clung to their
places and fought every inch of the way
uutil the fire was under control. After
two hours of hard work five charred
bodies burned beyond recognition were
found. Two were in the attitude of
prayer. They must have been awakened
by the fire but could not escape. They
were caught like rats in a trap. The
bodies of two other men lay close to
those that were on their knees, and it
looked as though they had not known
what happened to them. They must
have been suffocated before the flames
reached them.

Yes, August Flower still has the largest
sale of any medicine in the civilized
world. Your mothers and grandmothers
never thought of using anything else, for
indigestion and biliousness. Doctors
were scarce and they seldom heard of
appendicitis, nervous prostration or
heart failure, etc. They used August
Flower to clean out the system and stop
fermentation of undigested food, regu
late the action of tbe liver, stimulate the
nervous and organic action of the sys
tem, and that is all they took, when feel
ing dull and bad with headaches and
other aches. You only need a few doses
of Green's August Flower, in liquid
form, to make you satisfied there is
nothing serious the matter with you.
