Bread recently had been millering from extreme excitement, declared to be from remorse. Tuesday night he made a rope out of his blankats and strangled him self. On tho wall of Uresei's coll the word "Vengeance" was scratched with his bloody thumb nail. Bresoi'e violence last week culminated iu Iuh attacking a jailer, in consequence of which ho was placed in a strait-jacket. Southampton, May 23. Sir Thomas Lipton has asked that the cup races be postponed until the first week in October. So far as can bo ascertained tho hull of the cup challenger is not injured, but she will be docked for a thorough exam ination. Sir Thomas Lipton, Georgo Watson and W. G. Jameson visited the boat to day and decided that six weeks will be sufficient to put tho crippled yacht again in racing trim, and that it will probably be necessary to ask for a delay in the date of the cup races for this length of time. In their opinion' most of the other spars were quito heavy enough, and the whole trouble arose from the breaking of a shroud and the bohstay fastenings. Sir Thomas Lipton takes the 'accident philosophically, but the comments of the men show that this culminating misfortune, coming on top of the minor accidents which have happened at near ly every trial, has quite taken the heart out of tho crew. Past mishaps, which were glossed over at the time of the oc currence, are now magnified and not one of the crew has a good word to say for the boat. It is now admitted that all are bitterly disappointed with her form as against that of the other boat, and the geneial hope is expressed that Sir Thomas Lipton will decide to build a new yacht before sailing off his chal lenge. Warrants for Dowlfctles. Chicago, May 23. The coroner's jury which lias for two days listened to the evidence in the case of Mrs. Emma Lucy .In (Id, wife of one of the officials of John Alexander Dowie's Zion, tonight re turned a verdict holding Dowie, H. W. Judd, husband of the woman, Mrs. Sprecher and Mrs. Bratsch to await the action of the grand jury. The two women uamed in the verdict were in attendance upon Mrs. Judd prior to her death. The charge against them is "criminal responsibility" for the death of Mrs. Judd. The evidence given at the inquest by some of the leading physicians of the city, who had examined Mrs. Judd's body after it had been exhumed, was to the elleot that the most simple surgical operation would have prevented the woman's death, which resulted from the rupture of a blood vessel. They testified that she was allowed- to die when the slightest attempt to save her life would have been successful. This evidence induced the jurv to declare that the people named were responsible for the woman'6 death. BUSINESS LOCALS.
