Tacoma, April 20. A divorce was granted by Judge Suell today to Mrs. J. - CASTORIA For Infants and Children. The Kind You Have Always Bought Beard the Signature of In Use For Over Thirty Years CASTORIA D. Christie, the wifeof Rev. Mr. Christie, a prominent evangelist and churchman of Tacoma. Mrs. Christie alleges that her husband deserted her three years ago and has Blnce refused to contribute to her support. The reverend gentleman, she says, became imbued with the idea that his mission in tiie world was to work for tiie Lord instead of working for his family. Exaggerated notions of the sanctity of life aad erratic ideas of the ideal laws which should govern men and women in their associations with each otiier also tended, she claims, to produce an estrangement. Rev. Mr. Christie was intimately as sociated for many years with Evangelist N. M. Hnrriman, who left the First Baptist church eeveu years aito with the members which followed his leadership, and established the Ecclesiu Mission For years tins mission did more to (lis nipt the churches of the city than all the other influences combined, members from all denominations flocking to it to hear tiie preaching of liarrimau and Christie. Dissensions showed head from time to time at the mission, resulting in u scattering of the membership, A small number of the most earnest members held together amid the storms, but these have gone East to Shiloh, Me., where a large missionary training school is con ducted by the sect, liarrimau and Christie disagreed about a year ago, since which time Christie has been preaching in various places. The divorce proceedings are a great surprise to the many friends of Rev. and Mrs. Christie, they botli being very old resident!) of the city, .lodge Snell, iu grauting the divorce, said religion was a good thing to preach, but it was a better thing to practice. Came In Answer tn Prayer. Independence, Mo., April 15. Sun day was b diy of fasting and prayer in the Reorganized church of Latter-Day Saints, and the entire conference was given over to supplication that the Lord would give to their prophet certain light relative to church government. The questions discussed upon which the saints were not quite clear were whether women should attend as delegates and act in a legislative capacity, or whether priests and teachers should be permitted an ex-officio vote. Today Joseph Smith, the prophet, seer and revelator, announced that the prayers of the church had been answered, and that in the early morning light the Lord had revealed himself. The revela tion is an important one, and was not given the church, but goes first to the various bodies of the church, and if it is passed by them then ttie church takes action. There is no record where a revelation was had that passed the various quorumB of the church, and was then not received by the body. It is expected that the revelation will reach the church proper about Wedneeday of the present, week. At today's session there was quite a difference of opinion expressed by the auditing committee of the bishops books. A majority and minority report was made. Elder Gowell, who claims to be a bookkeeper, declared that the church had no books at all in the bishop's office, but a lot of memoranda, which needed some one to explain. The matter was finally settled by the reception of boih reports and will be taken up later by the conference. JtoerB Denert Dewet. London, April 21.
