    Wreckage Come Ahor. I
AsTonu, Or., March 21. Wreckage
from a vessel is being washed upon Clat
sop beach, nar Genihart Park. This
proves conclusively that some vessel has
been recently wrecked off the coast near
here. With it came some more cases of
salmon that were a portion of the cirpo
of the Iiritish ship Ardnamnrchnn, which
Bailed from Vancouver, B. C, December
3rd last, and which has been reinsured.
While the wreckage has not been identi
fied, it is believed to be from that ves
sel. The wreckage is painted, o portion
beinu the interior panelinp of a vesse.'s
cabin and a door that had been forcibly
torn from it. The lock had been violent
ly wrenched from thedoor, leavinp some
of the brass screws. The beach will be
watched for more svreckace in order that
the identity of the vessel may be posi
tively established.
Type Thrown Into Move.
ItEiTisLic, Wash., March 21. Last 1
nicbt about 11 o'clock some one entered ,
the office of the Republic Pioneer and j
deliberately opened the drawers in a i
cabinet filled with job type, took all the
letterE out of several boxes and threw
them into the stove. When be bad
finished up the metal type he ruined
t-everal fonts of v.ood type in ttie same
manner. There were probably a few
coals in the stove, but not enouch to
make a good fire, and he tODk some
patent plate matter to hurry things.
This blazed up, and he shut the stove up
tight. He then evidently started to
wreck the job press with an iron bar,
bnt did not damac it. In the mean
time pas had generated in the stove and
there was an explosion, blowing the
cover off of the stove.
V111 Ilalsr Lumber l'rlces.
Astoria, March 21. The sawmills of
this city and Seaside will, April let, iE
eue a new price list on lumber for the
local trade. The list will be slightly
higher than the one now in force, and
will conform with that recently estab
lished by the mills at Portland. Noth
ing has yet been done toward changing
the price for logs, but with the burning
of the Clatsop mill, which was the heav
iest consumer of spruce timber on the
Colombia river, and the starting of a
large number of new camps, it is eaid by
well-informed individuals that before
the summer is over there will be a re
daction in the pricee. Others, however,
BUte that the Loggers' Association,
which was formed last year, will tske
steps to limit the output of the camps
bo as to maintain prices.
